Botox, the cosmetic, injectable version of the botulinum toxin, has become increasingly popular since it first burst on the scene. Over 10 million Botox procedures have been performed in the United States alone and its popularity seems to be continually on the rise as more and more people are coming to love this fast acting, virtually painless way to reduce those pesky common signs of aging. Botox works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles responsible for wrinkles and blocking the nerve impulses to reduce activity and create a smoother more youthful appearance. Administering Botox takes only a few minutes- so few in fact that many people even opt for a Botox touchup on their lunch breaks. The results, which generally last up to 4 months, are visible immediately.
Common areas treated with Botox include the furrow lines of the brow and frown lines. Botox has also been effective in reducing excessive sweating, muscle spasms of the neck and eyes and in relieving migraines. Talk to your plastic surgeon to find out if Botox may be right for you.
Cellulite Reduction procedures are effective and popular in Orange County, Newport Beach, Beverly Hills and Los Angeles. Board Certified Plastic Surgeon of the Face and Body Dr. Sanjay Grover specializes in these and many other procedures.
A chemical solution applied to the face which removes surface layer skin damage like sun spots, fine wrinkles and blemishes is called a chemical peel. The main ingredients in chemical peels may include alphahydrozy acids (AHA), phenol or trichloroacetic acids (TCA), though the exact formula is catered stronger or weaker to meet each patient’s individual needs. As with all procedures, there are risks and potential side effects. Though rare, infection or scarring is possible. Chemical peels may cause stinging, redness, crusting or irritation which generally subsides as your skin adjusts to the treatment.
It’s important to have a trained physician with experience in chemical peel procedures to administer your treatment. Chemical peels are generally performed in your plastic surgeon’s office or outpatient surgical center, unless they are being done in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures. Depending on the type of peel and the amount of skin being treated, the procedure may take anywhere from 10 minutes for an AHA peel or two hours for a full-face phenol peel.
What do Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane, Radiesse and Dysport all have in common? If you are unhappy with the sudden appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, sunken in cheeks and other common signs of aging, you might look to one or more of these to fill out those lines and plump up your cheeks or lips. They are called dermal fillers and that’s exactly what they do, fill out your skin. Dermal fillers and injectables, like the ever popular Botox, have become almost commonplace these days, all but replacing the scalpel and expensive surgical procedures by presenting a virtually painless, quick fix that can be catered to each patient’s individual needs.
Every dermal filler on the market has its strengths and weaknesses. Juvederm can fill in wrinkles, folds and improve that overall appearance of lose, sagging skin, but where Juvederm is more superficial and can be used almost anywhere, Radiesse volumizes deeper and is best used in specific areas. Restylane works best on fine lines and wrinkles. Perlane’s gel particles are bigger and can be injected deeper into the skin for a more long lasting result that may be sustained for up to 6 months. Most dermal fillers take only minutes to apply and last for a couple of months.
DermaSweep is a microdermabrasion system that eliminates the messy and painful crystals often used by alternative systems to remove dead skin. The device features a variable level vacuum pump that gently lifts the skin surface as it “sweeps away” the dead layer of skin in a precise and controlled manner.
Exilis computer-controlled device is guided over the treatment area. Patients feel a warming sensation as the Energy is delivered to the deeper layers of skin. The ability to focus the Energy on specific areas at the targeted depth of penetration makes Exilis a highly effective aesthetic solution.
Fotofacial is a popular procedure in Orange County, Newport Beach, Beverly Hills and Los Angeles. Board Certified Plastic Surgeon of the Face and Body Dr. Sanjay Grover specializes in this and many other procedures.
Our hands receive nearly constant exposure to sunlight and other elements exposing them to damage and premature aging. Though we may focus on the face for signs of aging the hands are a feature that deserve our care and attention as well. At the Center for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, we offer a variety of procedures for hand rejuvenation. Dr. Grover can analyze possible treatment modalities based on your needs and preferences at his Newport Beach or Beverly Hills offices.
Laser Hair Removal is the most high-tech, long-lasting hair removal option on the market. The ideal candidate for Laser Hair Removal is someone with unwanted hair growth who has dark hair and light skin. People with light hair are not ideal as the laser is designed to be attracted to dark hair that contains a significant amount of melanin. People with natural-born or tan-induced darker skin are not ideal as the laser can get absorbed in the pigmentation and will not reach the hair follicle for proper treatment, which can also lead to skin discoloration.
A liquid face lift is a non surgical procedure which involves the use of advanced dermal fillers (usually in conjunction with BOTOX) to gently lift and contour facial features.
In broad terms, a Liquid Face Lift can be undertaken to accomplish any of the following:
- Gentle lift of individual (or overall) facial features
- Reduced wrinkles, creases or folds
- Restoration of natural, curved facial contours
- A more rested, energetic look
- A friendlier smile
Results from liquid face lift procedures are usually gradual and can range from subtle to astonishing. It is common for patients who have had liquid face lift procedures to say that they receive compliments on their appearance without others knowing that they have done anything.

Sculptra Aesthetic is a facial injectable that works gradually in a series of treatments — on average, three injection sessions over a few months — for a subtle, more youthful looking appearance.
Sculptra Aesthetic targets the underlying causes of the signs of facial aging. It can give you noticeable results that emerge subtly and can last for up to 2 years.* It begins to work within the deep dermis, where your skin’s structure is reinforced as Sculptra Aesthetic helps to replace lost collagen.
Ulthera is a precise non-surgical tissue lifting treatment. Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), it is the first-ever aesthetic treatment that incorporates ultrasound imaging for viewing tissue below the skin’s surface. The Ulthera System is considered a first-of-its-kind technology, unprecedented in the marketplace, and as such underwent a 510(k) “de novo” review by the FDA.
With just one treatment, the regenerative process is initiated, but the full effect will build over time, usually, in the course of two to three months. During the FDA clinical trial, 9 out of 10 patients had a noticeable, significant lift of the brow line, resulting in a more open, refreshed appearance overall. Patients reported firmer, tighter, more fit-looking skin in other areas of the face and neck as well. The ability to utilize an established technology to both see below the skin and then treat it with great precision, helps ensure both safety and a significant outcome.
