Orange County Cosmetic Surgeon Q & A

Ask Doctor Grover - Orange County Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

When finding a plastic surgeon, I would recommend you search for one who is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgeons.  You can find board-certified plastic surgeons in your community by searching www.plasticsurgery.org or www.surgery.org.  I am proud to be a member of The American College of Surgeons thus I will put FACS behind my name, however, you may find some surgeons who are not  plastic surgeons that are a member of The American College of Surgeons.  They may be certified in other specialties instead of plastic surgery.  It does get confusing.

Orange County Plastic Surgeon Q & A

Ask Doctor Grover - Orange County Botox Specialist Dr. Sanjay Grover - Dynamic Wrinkles

On average, most patients will notice that they will see a return of ‘dynamic’ wrinkles (those created from muscle contraction) by three months after injections of Botox.

Some patients do not want to see any movement or appearance of any wrinkles and may feel that Botox only lasts them 2-3 months, while other patients may say that their Botox lasted them 6-9 months, but upon examination you see a fair amount of movement.

In general, this is not dependent on age.  You may find someone in their late 20’s or early 30s with very animated wrinkles that are quite apparent with only little muscle contraction, while you may see a 60-year-old patient with few dynamic wrinkles.

What is the Botox Breast Lift?  Ask Orange County Breast Lift Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Grover

Botox can be used to achieve a ‘chemical brow lift’. There are antagonistic muscles in the face/brow that work in balance to adjust the brow position. If one appropriately injects the opposing muscles in the correct positions, one can achieve a ‘brow lift’.

The frontalis muscle can be injected in the forehead, but not in the area directly above the outer aspect of the brow. This will allow the frontalis muscle to raise the brow if the muscle which pulls down the brow, the orbicularis, is injected or relaxed directly under the brow.

Newport Beach Plastic Surgeon Q & A

What is the standard cost of Botox? - Ask Doctor Grover

It is best to pay for your Botox by the ‘unit’.  Each vial of Botox contains 100 units.  Every physician may dilute their Botox differently, thus, the best way to compare ‘apples to apples’ is by knowing the price of one ‘unit’ of Botox.

Most patients who are good candidates for Botox can benefit from 10-20 units in each ‘area’ (glabella, forehead, crow’s feet).

However, there are many other areas of the face that may benefit from smaller amounts of Botox such as “smoker’s lines”, corner’s of the mouth, neck bands, dynamic (mobile) nose tip etc.

Newport Beach Cosmetic Surgeon Q & A

What are the risks of Newport Beach Labiaplasty?

As with any surgical procedures, there are several risks that one must be willing to undertake. Although small, there is a potential risk for bleeding or infection. It is important to avoid aspirin and other anti inflammatories for 10 days prior to surgery. Perioperative antibiotics and good hygiene will diminish one’s risk for infection. Pain or discomfort is present, although not significant with a wedge technique. Wound separation is possible. Avoid intercourse for 6-8 weeks post operatively.

Orange County Cosmetic Surgeon Q & A

Ask Doctor Grover - Labiaplasty vs. Vaginal Rejuvenation in Orange County - What’s the difference?

Labiaplasty refers to modifying or changing the labia (lips).  Labiaplasty may refer to modification of the labia minora (inner lips) or labia majora (outer lips).  It is more common for patients to request modification of the labia minora.

Vaginal rejuvenation usually refers to modifying the vagina or reducing the size or tightening the vaginal opening.

Newport Beach Mommy Makeover

The Mommy Makeover procedure is a revolutionary procedure developed by surgeons to alleviate and reverse the effects of childbirth on a woman’s body, which can include stretched-out abdominal muscles, loose skin and stretch marks around the belly, thighs and breasts as well as excess fatty deposits.  The Mommy Makeover procedure is revolutionary because it combines the best of several popular surgical procedures including the Tummy Tuck, Liposuction and Breast Lift - Breast Augmentation, all aimed at restoring the smooth, contoured pre-pregnancy body.

The approach is to rejuvenate the entire body in one or two surgeries, so that when the transformation is complete, the mommies’ body is as close as possible to the pre-pregnancy state.  Timing is everything when it comes to the Mommy Makeover procedure.  If you are considering getting pregnant again, or planning dramatic weight loss,  it is best to wait six months after you are done breast feeding, as pregnancy and weight gain or loss can have adverse effects on the Mommy Makeover results.  Furthermore, waiting six months allows your skin and muscles the time to ’snap back’ as much as they will naturally, which can only aid in the recovery process.

Newport Beach Plastic Surgeon Q & A

Ask Doctor Grover - Reducing Breast Implants Size: How Long Should I Wait?

You can change your implants at any time; however, this may not be the wisest thing to do early on. Generally speaking, you should avoid re-operation in the first 3 months unless there is an emergency that is ‘forcing’ you to do so. Your breast will evolve over the first 3-4 months and you will start getting ‘used to’ your new breasts. You likely had a detailed conversation with your plastic surgeon prior to undergoing this procedure and jointly decided on the size you were going for. Correct?

Give it some time. You may be very glad you did not rush into something too hastily. It does not have to do with bleeding.
