Ask Doctor Grover – Breast Reduction Cost – Mammaplasty Cost

Breast reduction, or reduction mammaplasty, may sometimes be covered by one’s health insurance plan. Having said this, many plastic surgeons do not participate with insurance plans. Insurance companies require patients to meet certain guidelines to qualify for a breast reduction. They will require that the patient meets certain height and weight requirements and also require that a certain weight of breast tissue is removed from  each breast prior to paying for any procedures.

Pregnancy and Nursing Will Change Breasts

A woman’s breast will change following pregnancy and nursing and time alone.  Following pregnancy and nursing, breast will enlarge and engorge, and then will atrophy or involute. This will leave the breast ‘droopier’ and thinner, and can cause the nipple to descend.  If you are thin to start with and have little breast tissue, you will notice that you can feel the implant much more. This is especially common with saline implants where rippling can be noticed. You should visit your board-certified plastic surgeon to have him/her evaluate if you would benefit from an implant exchange to a high profile silicone implant with or without a lift.

Ask Doctor Grover – Breast Lift without Scars?

A lift will help your droopy breasts but will require some scars. You may or may not require an implant as well depending on the quality and quantity of your breast tissue. With a breast lift, your own breast tissue can be restructured to give the appearance of a fuller breast. The extent of scars for a mastopexy will depend on the extent of droopiness and the quality of your skin.

Ask Doctor Grover – Breast Reduction Surgery will often Lift Breast

Most breast reductions will lift the breasts as well. There are rare instances when a breast reduction will be performed with liposucuction alone. Liposuction would rarely ‘lift’ the breast unless there is fantastic elasticity. Many breast reduction techniques will utilize the same incisions used for a breast lift with or without a breast implant.

Orange County Breast Lift: How Long to Wait After Breastfeeding?

Thee months is a reasonable amount of time to wait for a breast lift following the cessation of nursing. This allows the breasts to ‘normalize’ and involute/atrophy to their final size. Additionally, it allows the body adequate time to normalize hormonally.

Newport Beach Breast Reduction Surgery – VelaShape for Breast Reduction?

I would not recommend you undergo VelaShape procedures to try to achieve a breast reduction.  VelaShape can help improve cellulite and provide some skin tightening and circumferential reduction, but not significant enough for a good sized reduction.

If you are against having a more invasive breast reduction with visible scars on the breast, you may want to speak with a plastic surgeon about the option of liposuction for a breast reduction.   A good place to start is at www.surgery.org which is the website for The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Newport Beach Breast Reduction Surgery – Adjusting to Size of Implants

You should give it some time before rushing in for another surgery.  Of course, you can have another procedure and change your implant to a smaller size, but your body is still accommodating to having your implants placed.  You may feel that you actually like your size in a few months.   Although an implant exchange can be relatively ‘easy’, any surgery entails some risks and costs, of course.  The other thing to consider is that the difference between a 500cc and 475cc high profile implant is not that significant.
