Mommy Makeover at a Glance

December 25th, 2009

After children it is difficult for women to maintain their previous weight. The physical effects of childbirth on a a woman’s body lead to stretched breasts, sagging or bulging stomachs, more weight on the hips and thighs. The muscles of the abdominal wall stretch apart, and the bulge of the lower tummy can not be fixed with diet and exercise alone. Dr. Grover provides excellent cosmetic surgery to recent mothers to restore their womanly figure after they have children. Newport Beach Mommy Makeover

April 15th, 2009

The Mommy Makeover procedure is a revolutionary procedure developed by surgeons to alleviate and reverse the effects of childbirth on a woman’s body, which can include stretched-out abdominal muscles, loose skin and stretch marks around the belly, thighs and breasts as well as excess fatty deposits.  The Mommy Makeover procedure is revolutionary because it combines the best of several popular surgical procedures including the Tummy Tuck, Liposuction and Breast Lift – Breast Augmentation, all aimed at restoring the smooth, contoured pre-pregnancy body.

The approach is to rejuvenate the entire body in one or two surgeries, so that when the transformation is complete, the mommies’ body is as close as possible to the pre-pregnancy state.  Timing is everything when it comes to the Mommy Makeover procedure.  If you are considering getting pregnant again, or planning dramatic weight loss,  it is best to wait six months after you are done breast feeding, as pregnancy and weight gain or loss can have adverse effects on the Mommy Makeover results.  Furthermore, waiting six months allows your skin and muscles the time to ‘snap back’ as much as they will naturally, which can only aid in the recovery process.

Orange County Plastic Surgeon Q & A

Ask Doctor Grover – Mini Tummy Tuck vs. Full Tummy Tuck

Very few patients are ideal candidates for a mini tummy tuck. You need a tummy tuck. A mini tummy tuck is only a viable option for a patient with very limited skin laxity in the lower abdomen without weakness of the entire abdominal musculature. Patients with too lax or excess skin should not ‘waste’ their money on liposuction alone.

Post-pregnancy Sagging & Loose Skin – Orange County Breast Lift

Many women need to have some form of a breast lift following childbirth and nursing.  A lift can be performed with a variety of techniques depending on the extent of excess skin and if a breast implant is going to be used.

Ask Doctor Grover – Waiting Period For Tummy Tuck After Pregnancy?

I prefer to have my patients wait three months following childbirth before undergoing an abdominoplasty.  During pregnancy, a woman’s blood volume will increase 40-50%.  This generally will go back to normal 3-6 weeks following childbirth.  These changes can lead to worsening anemia (low red cells or hemoglobin).  Additionally, there are many hormonal and psychological changes that can occur following childbirth.  One should also consider the fact that they won’t be able to take care of their newborn immediately following surgery.  Of course, one should be avoid breast feeding during this time and post operatively.
