Ask Doctor Grover – Orange County Facial Rejuvenation – Juvederm Facial Bruising?

Whenever you inject the skin with any product that requires a needle, there is a risk of a bruise.  This can occur with Botox, Restylane or Juvederm.  Having said this, usually there is no bruising or very little.  It will help you if you avoid non steroidal anti inflammatories such as Advil, Ibuprofen or even aspirin for a week prior.

Ask Doctor Grover – Why is Juvederm so popular among Plastic Surgeons?

Juvederm and Restylane are a type of substance known as hyaluronic acid (HA). They are very nice dermal fillers as they can be soft and last a while, but not too long. Remember, you will continue to age and your face will undergo changes. It is nice to not have a product that may be permanent and not ‘age’ appropriately with your face. A very important factor to achieve a nice result with a filler is, of course, your injector.

Newport Beach Face Lift – Will Botox or Facial Fillers Effects Face Lift Results?

Botox and Fillers are complimentary to many Face Lifts. Each procedure can improve signs of aging at different levels and regions.  It is usually not ideal to perform all of these procedures in the same setting however as the effects of the filler and Botox will be less precise.

Ask Doctor Grover – Orange County Abdominoplasty Combines Liposuction for Outstanding Results

Liposuction may be combined with an abdominoplasty many times. Some times this is only performed on the flanks, other times, some surgeons will perform liposcution on the front of the abdomen as well. There are different forms of liposuction available such as Power Assisted Liposuction, Vaser ultrasonic liposuction, and traditional hand assisted liposuction. All of these techniques are viable options in the right hands.

Orange County Abdominoplasty Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Grover – Feelings of Fear After Abdominoplasty Surgery

Most plastic surgeons will have their tummy tuck patients wear some form of abdominal binder or compression garment for the first 3-6 weeks following a tummy tuck. Many patients will express that they feel more comfortable and confident with it on during the first month or so. Some patients can’t get wait to get rid of it though.

Ask Doctor Grover – Abdominoplasty Surgery for Type 2 Diabetics

Having type 2 diabetes is not a contraindication to having an abdominoplasty on its own.  However, it is advisable to only undergo this type of procedure if your blood sugars are well controlled. You should inform your surgeon of how your blood sugars range and what your A1C’s run. You may need to undergo further medical workup including an EKG or a treadmill test and medical clearance. Your blood surgars should also be well controlled to also achieve better wound healing. Good luck.

Newport Beach Breast Augmentation Surgeon – Celebrity Breast Implants Results

Discuss your desires with your board certified plastic surgeon.  Every patient has different desires.  It is extremely important that you convey this with your surgeon.  Your result will depend on many factors that involve you, your surgeon and the type of technique that is used and the implants that are used.  A nice place to start to find your board certified plastic surgeon is www.surgery.org, the website for The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Ask Doctor Grover – Look and Feel of Breast Implants Depend on Many Factors

The feel of a breast implant varies from person to person.   Many factors come into play.  Some factors include the amount of breast tissue a person already has to cover the implants, whether or not the implants will be on top of the muscle, entirely under the muscle, or partially under the muscle; whether they are saline implants or silicone implants; the quality and thickness of the skin, etc…

In general, silicone implants will feel more “natural” than saline implants.   Silicone implants can feel like a thick marshmallow, whereas saline implants can feel like a bag of water.  Some patients will do very well with either type of implant if they have thick skin and a fair amount of breast tissue in either the subglandular or submuscular position.  In general, woman who are quite thin, have little breast tissue with loose skin, and have nursed children will do better with a silicone implant, preferably a high profile silicone implant to achieve a more natural feel.

Implants can feel hard for several reasons.  Some include a saline implant that is way too over-filled.  Another reason can be a capsular contracture.

Ask Doctor Grover – Wearing an Underwire Bra after Breast Augmentation Surgery – When is it safe?

I have my patients wear a sports bra 24 hours/day (except to shower) the first 3 weeks.  After this, I allow my patients to wear an underwire bra as long as it is comfortable for them even if they have an inframammary incision.

Ask Doctor Grover – Newport Beach Tummy Tuck Final Results

You will see immediate results the next day,  ‘final’ results in 2-3 months.  Abdominoplasty patients are quite pleased the moment they see their tummy for the first time at their first dressing change. Of course, there will be some swelling that will resolve over the first several months.
