Ask Doctor Grover – Can Botox Reduce My Forehead Wrinkles?

Botox works very nicely for ‘dynamic’ wrinkles which occur due to forehead muscle contraction.  It will also prevent future wrinkles from developing.  Botox, however, does not eliminate wrinkles that are already etched in although it may soften them.  For these ‘static’ or permanent wrinkles you can consider other options such as ablative or non-ablative laser resurfacing.  These laser procedures, however, will work best if combined with Botox otherwise the wrinkles will return fairly quickly.

Ask Doctor Grover – Orange County Botox

Botox can give patients a wonderful result by weakening or paralyzing muscles that create furrows or wrinkles.  On occasion, patients may notice something that they do not like following Botox treatments.  The effects of Botox generally last 3-4 months and then wear off.

How Long Until I Notice My Botox Results?

Most patients begin to notice a result within 2-3 days following injection of Botox.  Patients may require 7 days to notice their ‘final’ result.  If you do not notice an effect or your desired result after 7 days, it is a good idea to see your physician who did your treatment.  You may require additional units of Botox to see the desired effect.

Ask Doctor Grover – Newport Beach Tummy Tuck Outpatient Procedure

Many plastic surgeons today perform a tummy tuck as an outpatient procedure.  I prefer to also do this as an outpatient procedure; however, I prefer to have my patients stay with an aftercare nurse (not in the hospital).

Our nurses are very experienced taking care of post cosmetic surgery patients and provide patients with the pampering that is much appreciated after surgery.  Pain is well controlled with long lasting local anesthetic as well as oral pain tablets.

Ask Doctor Grover – What is the T-incision Tummy Tuck?

A ‘T’ incision may be used in several instances.  One is in the massive weight loss patient in which there is too much skin laxity in both the vertical and horizontal dimensions.

Another instance where a ‘T’ incision may be indicated is in the thin patient with some skin excess (too much for a mini-abdominoplasty).  The reason to add this additional ‘T’ closure of vertical closure in the midline is to close the original belly button skin opening that has now been pulled down lower.

Orange County Tummy Tuck Procedure – Permanent and Absorbable Sutures

Both permanent and absorbable sutures are used in most abdominoplasty procedures.  Permanent (but not visible) sutures are often used to tighten the muscles.  It is variable what type of suture is used on the skin.  If permanent sutures are used on the skin they are usually removed by one week.

Ask Doctor Grover – Breast Implants and Stretch Marks

Although most patients who undergo breast augmentation do not experience any stretch marks or striae, some can.  A person usually develops stretch marks or tears in the dermis during periods of rapid growth in the presence of high circulating hormones (steroids), for example, during puberty or pregnancy.  If one’s skin envelope is quite tight and desires a large augmentation, this type of patient could potentially suffer from some stretch marks, depending on their genetics.  These stretch marks initially are red in nature but whiten with time.  Usually postpartum women with stretch marks find that breast implants improve the appearance of their stretch marks.

Ask Doctor Grover – Breast Reduction After Breast Augmentation

You should give it some time before rushing in for another surgery.  Of course, you can have another procedure and change your implant to a smaller size, but your body is still accommodating to having your implants placed.  You may feel that you actually like your size in a few months.   Although an implant exchange can be relatively ‘easy’, any surgery entails some risks and costs, of course.  The other thing to consider is that the difference between a 500cc and 475cc high profile implant is not that significant.

Is one Breast Implants Manufacturer Better than the Other?

Both Allergan and Mentor make quality implants today, whether it is silicone or saline.  There are slight differences in the dimensions of each profile.  They both have low deflation and rupture rates with slight differences.  You can discuss this with your surgeon.

Both companies stick behind their products and offer excellent warranties.

Ask Doctor Grover – Saline Implants Leaking – What to Do?

It sounds as though your implant is deflating.  It is not related to your post-nasal drip however.  You should visit a board certified plastic surgeon to have this confirmed and discuss your options.  You should be able to exercise; however, sometimes women will notice the implant ‘poking’ them and this may be uncomfortable.
