Labiaplasty Newport Beach with Dr. Sanjay Grover

October 29th, 2008

Besides the pain and discomfort that can result from enlarged or misshapen labia, the emotional stress this sensitive condition may create for a woman can be devastating. Exercise and a healthy diet contribute to a positive self-image and confidence, but when one looks in the mirror and feels powerless, disconnected or embarrassed by what they see, an emotional toll is paid. This is often the experience of women who suffer from enlarged or misshapen labia.

The procedure known as Labiaplasty has been developed in order to reshape and reduce the outward appearance of the labia minora/majora, creating a more contoured, aesthetic and ‘natural’ look. The boost to one’s self-confidence and self-image can be miraculous and instantaneous, which is why Labiaplasty is rapidly becoming more accepted and popular in our culture. Vaginal rejuvenation – and Labiaplasty is one of the procedures included in vaginal rejuvenation – is one of the fastest-growing plastic surgery procedures in the U.S. – increasing 30% between 2005 and 2006 – based on information collected by The American Society of Plastic Surgeons.  At a reasonable cost with minimal recovery time, women can look beautiful and feel great thanks to this minor outpatient surgical procedure.

Dr. Sanjay Grover of Newport Beach has been working for over 14 years to help men and women alike realize their health and beauty goals through cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. His expert surgical technique is equally met by his compassionate and sensitive character, making Dr. Grover the first choice when it comes to Labiaplasty. “Dr. Grover made me feel very safe and comfortable…I was instantly at ease,” one patient wrote in a testimonial to Dr. Grover.

If you feel like you are a candidate for Labiaplasty, please contact Dr. Grover’s office or email Dr. Grover by clicking HERE.

Silicone Implants Approved 2 Years Ago This Week!

October 28th, 2008

It was two years ago this week that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) lifted the fourteen year ban on the use of silicone breast implants for breast augmentation surgery.Since 1962, silicone breast implants have been the doctor’s choice for breast implant surgery. But in 1992, the FDA put a ban on silicone implants amid allegations that ruptures in the sac in which the silicone is contained were more prevalent and dangerous than were first thought. After fourteen years of case studies and research into any link between silicone ruptures and autoimmune diseases, most studies find “no association between silicone breast implants and those type of diseases,” says Mayo Clinic epidemiologist Dr. Sherine Gabriel. “So the scientific evidence on this point has been negative and quite consistent.”

The removal of this ban has been beneficial for doctors and patients, who generally regard silicone implants as better feeling and better looking. Dr. Scott Spear, head of plastic surgery at Georgetown University Hospital and consultant for Allegan, maker of silicone implant devices says “it’s a hugely positive piece of news for plastic surgeons and patients because it really allows us to turn a page and to work with what we have believed for a long time is a better technology.”

More and more women today are choosing breast augmentation surgery – 345,500 women in 2007 – and a majority of them are choosing silicone implants. There is more information available today in regards to the risks and benefits associated with silicone, which empowers potential patients with more options and the ability to make more informed decisions.

Dr. Sanjay Grover is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who specializes in Breast Augmentation Surgery, among many other cosmetic procedures. If you are thinking of Breast Augmentation Surgery, Dr. Grover of Newport Beach and Beverly Hills can consult with you on the very best options using the latest technology available today.

Selecting a Newport Beach Breast Augmentation Plastic Surgeon

October 25th, 2008

Patients are fortunate to have many choices in selecting a qualified plastic surgeon in Newport Beach.  Some helpful tips include…selecting a Board Certified plastic surgeon, certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.  Additionally, one should look for a plastic surgeon who is an active member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) as well as The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).  Additionally, one can look up whether their plastic surgeon does, in fact, have an active license to practice medicine in the  state of California and if they have had any lawsuits that have been settled.  Then, after all of this checks out, look at the surgeon’s website and see what his or her training is and look at their before and after photos.  Finally, go in for a consultation and see if you feel comfortable with the plastic surgeon and his staff.

Newport Beach breast implants and Newport Beach breast augmentation

October 23rd, 2008

Newport Beach breast implants are utilized by Dr. Grover for Newport Beach Breast Augmentation.  Dr. Grover is a board certified plastic surgeon in Newport Beach and Beverly Hills.  Dr. Grover utilizes both saline breast implants as well as silicone breast implants.  Breast implants can be placed by a variety of techniques including periaeaolar, inframammary, and transaxillary approaches.  Newport Beach breast implants can be placed in the subglandular (on top of the muscle), submuscular (under the muscle) or in the dual plane (partially under the muscle).  Dr. Grover utilizes the dual plane techniques for his primary breast augmentations.  Dr. Grover prefers silicone implants more than saline breast implants especially in post partum women who have had children and nursed as they have less tissue to cover the implants.  For more information or to see before and after photos, please visit Dr. Grover’s website at www.doctorgrover.com.

Orange County Plastic Surgeon Sanjay Grover Spotlights the Tummy Tuck

October 23rd, 2008

Quite often all the exercise and dieting in the world won’t get rid of the tummy pouch that results from a lifetime of weight fluctuations or pregnancy.  The body changes that a woman experiences to her mid-section with one pregnancy, much less multiple pregnancies, can cause sagging skin, stretch marks, and even muscle separation (rectus diastasis) in the abdominal area. A ‘Tummy Tuck’ or abdominoplasty is a common surgical procedure performed on women following childbirth in order to contour and reshape the abdomen and flanks by contouring excessive fat, removing excess skin that may have stretch marks and by tightening loose abdominal muscles.

Click here for more information on Dr. Grover’s Mommy Make-over.

However, the Tummy Tuck is not only for postpartum women or after childbirth. The procedure can improve the appearance of excess abdominal fat, skin and tissue in any healthy adult. The procedure may also be performed on men who have lost significant amounts of weight due to diet and exercise or following gastric bypass procedures.

What is the Procedure Like?

Full Abdominoplasty: A full abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck requires an incision from hip to hip in the shape of a smile, which allows the scar to be hidden when wearing a bikini, for example.  The full abdominoplasty is recommended when the patient has more than just a bulge.  The procedure removes excess skin and fat through the surgical removal of sagging skin, and then is followed up by liposuction to remove excess fat deposits.  In addition, most patients require weakened or separated abdominal muscles to be repaired, which allows for a stronger and firmer abdominal musculature.  The finished product is smoother skin and a tighter mid-section.

Power assisted liposuction is a technique known as Tumescent LiposuctionDr. Grover of Newport Beach usually performs tumescent liposuction in conjunction with an abdominoplasty in order to achieve better contour of the waist and flanks.

Mini-Abdominoplasty: A mini-abdominoplasty (mini tummy tuck) may be performed if a patient has excessive abdominal fatty deposits but only has minimal excess skin of the lower abdomen and slight muscle laxity of the lower abdomen. This procedure is usually performed with comprehensive liposuction of the abdomen, waist and flanks.

Thinking of Liposuction? Dr. Grover Can Help YOU!

October 21st, 2008

Every body is different. Every body stores fat in different ways and places. Some bodies store pockets of fat around the waist, while others’ gather fat in the upper arms. Of course, diet and exercise can combine to lessen the effects of unwanted fatty deposits, but at the end of the day, genetics and one’s predisposition to fat retention wins out. No matter how some people try, they just can’t get rid of the unwanted fat around specific areas such as the abdomen, waist, flanks, bra roll, back, hips, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin and neck. If you can‘t get rid of your unwanted fat, consider liposuction.

Dr. Sanjay Grover, with offices in Newport Beach and Beverly Hills, has built his practice on helping patients achieve their goals in terms of beauty, health and self-esteem.

Many different techniques exist for liposuction such as tumescent liposuction and superwet liposuction. Different modalities used include traditional lipoplasty, power-assisted liposuction, or ultrasound assisted liposuction. Dr. Grover has had extensive experience with all of these techniques and prefers the Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL) technique with the superwet and tumescent techniques. Dr. Grover has utilized the power assisted liposuction technique since the year 2000. He has performed hundreds of procedures with this technique, a few of which can be viewed in his Before and After Photos page.
